The options to buy marijuana have just continued to diversify with the inclusion of pets in the list of weed consumers. In the wake of continued research and studies revolving around the abilities found in marijuana, pet owners now believe that pot will go a long way in treating most of their pet’s diseases. There have been success reports among pet owners affirming the effectiveness of marijuana in treating pets for a number of ailments. Reports from The New York Times indicate that, animal lovers have resorted to buying marijuana products to address pets’ health complications such as seizures, pain, inflammation, arthritis and anxiety.

One of the respondents to this new trend in the use of marijuana among pets known as Lisa Mastramico said that her 12-year-old cat was suffering from arthritis and improved greatly using two edible oils manufactured from cannabis. Ideally, the cat previously spent days hiding in a closet and despite being given other remedies to arrest the situation, there was no sigh of relief. It was not until she came across a group of cannabis entrepreneurs that she got assisted. This is where she was able to get a medical marijuana card and then proceeded on to buy marijuana products for her suffering pet.

Well, this has happened even without approval from regulators on the implementation of cannabis-based regimens for pets. However, pet owners have continued to use marijuana for healing their horses, cats, pigs, dogs and any other domesticated animal. The views held by such bodies as The Food and Drug Administration seems to be reluctant on the use of weed-based medicine for pets. They assert that there is no credible research that is sufficient enough to warrant the unequivocal use of cannabis-based treatment on pets. This is more so based on the effectiveness that is thought to come through the administration of marijuana products to treat illness among animals. Anyone who has been buying marijuana to give their pet can only wait with bated breath to see such institutions change their standpoint.

Still on the issue of legalization, veterinarians have had their hands tight and are not permitted to give prescriptions for weed-based medical products. They are also hesitant to talk about the issue in states where cannabis is termed illegal. However, this is not the first time the issue is being talked about. Someone like Cate is seemingly giving hopes to many people out there who don’t have legal access to weed. In a more inspiring story to those still struggling with marijuana legalization issues, she says that her dog has responded positively with reduced harshness of the seizures for more than eight months now.

Of course, this is also well received by animal lovers based in California. Here, medical marijuana has been decriminalized for over two decades now. There is no doubt that pet owners will continue using medical marijuana to treat their animals.
